First, I took a portrait photo of a person in front of a white
background. After that, I uploaded it in Photoshop and made
it black and white. I then used the levels tool to make the white
brighter and the black darker. I used a white paint brush so I
could make the background better in places, by doing that,
it looked more professional. After that, I uploaded one of my
landscape photos and turned that back and white. I used the
levels tool on that too. I added a new page size A4, I cropped
it so it was a quarter of it's size. I uploaded the portrait photo
into it and made it smaller so that it would fit.
After that, I cropped it using the quick selection tool and then
clicked on refine edge. I then clicked the box 'Smart Radius'
and moved the scale up. By doing this, it made it possible
to make the hair selection look natural. I copied the black
and white landscape photo over to the portrait. I pressed 'Shift',
'Ctrl', 'Alt' and 'V'. This made the landscape photo paste into the portrait one. I used the layer blending mode, I experimented with the different kinds but decided to go with this one.
